Electrical Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and develop custom electronic solutions including PCBs, firmware, and FPGA code for rocket motor manufacturing and testing.
• Specify, design, and install devices to collect performance data on solid rocket motor burns.
• Create detailed schematics and simulated models to optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Execute the safe arming and initiation of rocket motors under test in coordination with other engineers.
• Develop software applications and configure data acquisition systems to collect and process performance metrics.
• Oversee the implementation, installation, and testing of new measuring devices and control systems.
• Act as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development.
• Draft and present formal technical documents, reports, and testing results to management.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in safety-critical hardware design, including multi-fault tolerance and inadvertent initiation mitigation.
• Experience in high-voltage PCB layout and circuit design for motor initiation and capacitor charging/discharge circuits.
• Experience in the design, development, and installation of sensors to collect system performance data.
• Experience with NI Labview, NI DAQmx, or other COTS data acquisition systems.
• Thorough understanding of signal conditioning, analog circuit design, and digital circuit design for analog-to-digital conversion.
• Ability to develop computer applications for data collection and proficiency in writing and understanding Python.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Advanced degree in engineering (preferred).
• Experience with circuit simulation tools such as Spice (preferred).
• Experience using EDA tools such as Altium or OrCAD (preferred).
• Familiarity with real-time computer architectures and their operating systems (preferred).
