Distinguished Hardware Security Engineer

What you'll do

• Define and drive the hardware security roadmap for Cisco's networking, data center, and AI infrastructure portfolio.
• Architect immutable roots of trust, platform firmware resiliency, cryptographic device identity, and anti-tamper protections.
• Advise executive leadership on embedded security decisions by translating technical trade-offs into clear business outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with global regulations including the EU Cyber Resilience Act and federal executive orders.
• Translate hyperscale customer requirements into specific silicon and system roadmaps.
• Represent Cisco in global standards consortia such as OCP, TCG, NIST, and others to shape industry standards.
• Mentor the next generation of hardware security architects and technical leaders within the organization.

What we're looking for

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in hardware systems design, silicon security, or embedded architecture.
• Proven track record as a Distinguished Engineer, Fellow, Chief Architect, or senior technical leader in hardware security strategy.
• Deep knowledge of complex networking systems, board-level design, FPGA/ASIC development, and product lifecycle management.
• Demonstrated knowledge of applied cryptography, PKI architectures, key management, and hardware security countermeasures.
• Ability to communicate effectively between low-level silicon details and executive-level business strategy.
• Active contribution to or leadership within hardware-security-focused industry standards groups (preferred).
• Experience with advanced platform security, regulatory compliance programs, or hardware security assessments (preferred).
