The Director of Software Engineering-HR Domain joins the Corporate Technology – HR, Pay & Time Technology team to provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple application teams. You will architect and build highly scalable, multi-region active-active applications on AWS using serverless design patterns to power mission-critical Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and Time capabilities. Daily responsibilities include leading full-stack development for Web, Mobile, and conversational interfaces using Java, Spring Boot, Python, FastAPI, React, and TypeScript. You will drive AI-native engineering by building MCP servers and custom agents for platforms like Moveworks while enforcing CI/CD, TDD, Infrastructure as Code, and automated security scanning. This role solves complex technical problems in a highly regulated industry, ensuring continuous availability, data sensitivity controls, and automated workflows for global enterprise systems.
Architect and operate scalable AWS applications using serverless design patterns for payroll and benefits systems.
Design multi-region active-active applications to ensure continuous availability and self-healing for global enterprise systems.
Lead full-stack development using Java, Spring Boot, and Python across web, mobile, and conversational interfaces.
Drive AI-native engineering by building MCP servers, custom agents, and agentic development workflows with hallucination guardrails.
Establish and enforce engineering standards including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, TDD, and automated security scanning.
Champion secure-by-design development to meet regulatory requirements, tax considerations, and access management controls.
Set governance for AI-enabled engineering and SDLC automation to improve delivery speed and operational outcomes.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within a domain of expertise.
Deep, hands-on expertise developing on AWS with serverless design patterns like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
Expert in designing and operating multi-region active-active applications with high-availability, resiliency, and disaster-recovery patterns.
Strong programming expertise in Java with Spring Boot and Python with modern frameworks like FastAPI or Flask.
Modern full-stack development experience across Web, Mobile, and conversational interfaces using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and REST.
Demonstrated experience with AI-native development, including agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and building MCP servers for conversational platforms.
Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture (Kafka), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and GitOps-based deployment (preferred).
