JOB TITLE: Director, Engineering The Director, Engineering joins the Sony Engagement Platform Services team to lead the development and activation of a next-generation engagement platform. This leader will design, scale, and optimize a technology ecosystem that powers contextual personalization, payments, search, content discovery, subscription management, and account identity systems. The role involves executing a platform engineering strategy to deliver high-impact solutions across various operating companies while mentoring a growing team of engineers. Key technical requirements include expertise in cloud-native architectures such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with microservices and event-driven systems. The position also requires proficiency in AI/ML-driven personalization, intelligent search, and recommendation systems. This role solves the complex business problem of decoupling application development from platform services to drive commerce technology and fan engagement.

What you'll do

Develop and implement the vision for the engagement ecosystem, including storefronts, digital purchases, and subscription services.
Lead, mentor, and empower a growing team of engineers to deliver high-impact solutions aligned with business goals.
Design, scale, and optimize the engagement platform technology ecosystem across various Sony operating companies.
Drive the successful delivery of multiple cross-platform projects through effective estimation, planning, and iterative value delivery.
Execute and iterate on the team's technical roadmap to ensure initiatives remain focused and value-driven.
Collaborate with global business units and product teams to ensure seamless platform integration and alignment.
Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance team performance, processes, and engineering excellence.

What we're looking for

BS or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
MS in CS (preferred).
10+ years of experience in commerce, fintech, or digital platforms.
At least 7 years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
Proven expertise in commerce platforms, digital storefronts, subscriptions, account and identity management.
Deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and event-driven systems.
Strong background in AI/ML-driven personalization, intelligent search, and recommendation systems.
Experience optimizing acquisition technology stacks, including audience segmentation, lifecycle, and campaign automation.
