The Director, Engineering joins the Targeting & Sensor Systems sector within the ForceX business unit to oversee technical execution and planning for current and new programs. This role serves as a technical focal point for product development, including R&D-funded efforts, while managing metrics like staffing demand, cost, schedule, and risk registers. The position involves mentoring employees, participating in bid activities, and providing briefings to internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include leading multi-disciplinary teams through the entire product development lifecycle using Agile software development methodologies and overseeing lab and field testing of systems. Candidates must possess expertise in hardware integration, computer networking protocols, Windows and Linux environments, and virtualization technologies. The role addresses technical challenges in developing scalable mission system software, counter-unmanned systems, and integrated solutions for manned and unmanned airborne platforms, ground vehicles, and surface ships.
Oversee technical execution and planning for current and new programs within the ForceX business unit.
Serve as the primary technical focal point for program development and R&D-funded efforts across the portfolio.
Track and report key metrics regarding staffing demand, cost/schedule inputs, and technical risk registers.
Participate in bid and proposal activities to secure new business from domestic and international customers.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development for engineering employees.
Deliver clear technical briefings to internal stakeholders and external customers to communicate program status.
Shape R&D efforts to inform the long-term growth of the ForceX portfolio.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Master's degree with 13 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 19 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Secret clearance required, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance later.
15+ years of experience in multi-disciplinary engineering leadership and software leadership with hardware integration experience.
Experience leading teams through full product development lifecycles, Agile methodologies, and lab/field testing of systems.
Top Secret/SCI clearance (preferred); Master's or Doctorate degree (preferred); experience with ground/flight tests (preferred); familiarity with networking protocols and virtualization (preferred).
