Data Center Project Manager, Mechanical joins the Places team to manage the full lifecycle of mechanical systems for mission-critical data center construction projects. What you'll do

Manage the full mechanical equipment lifecycle from bid leveling and procurement through just-in-time delivery.
Oversee construction activities as an owner's representative, managing contractors, subcontractors, and specialized vendors.
Review and approve technical submittals for mechanical systems, BMS controls, and hydronic piping.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and risk factors while managing RFI tracking and change orders.
Coordinate Test and Balance (TAB) activities to ensure alignment with mechanical design intent and commissioning plans.
Execute Commissioning (Cx) plans and oversee functional testing for all mechanical and BMS systems.
Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, NFPA 90A, and local mechanical codes across all projects.
Manage project closeout documentation including as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and operational training handovers.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience focused on hyperscale or large-scale colocation data center construction and commissioning.
Experience managing the mechanical equipment procurement lifecycle including bid leveling, PO issuance, shop drawing review, and vendor milestone management.
Hands-on experience developing and executing Commissioning (Cx) Plans, schedules, and checklists for mechanical and BMS controls systems.
Experience overseeing and coordinating TAB activities and reporting in accordance with ASHRAE 111, AABC, or NEBB standards.
Working knowledge of BMS controls systems including sequence of operations, functional testing, VFD configurations, and PID tuning.
Working knowledge of data center cooling infrastructure including chilled water systems, cooling towers, CRAHs, CRACs, AHUs, pumps, and hydronic systems.
Ability to read construction documents such as mechanical plans, P&IDs, BMS control schematics, and equipment schedules.
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, NFPA 90A, IMC, and applicable mechanical codes and safety standards.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 40-50% of the time.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (preferred).
Experience managing Cx Level 1 through Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing coordination (preferred).
Familiarity with BMS platforms like Johnson Controls Metasys or familiarity with energy modeling tools (preferred).
