As a Customer Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor and primary architect within the go-to-market organization to guide enterprise clients through the entire customer journey. You will be responsible for technical validation, designing complex architectures involving DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, Network Security, and Workers, while managing proof of concepts and tailored demonstrations. This quota-carrying role involves overseeing onboarding, ensuring value realization, and identifying expansion opportunities. To succeed, you must possess expertise in internet fundamentals like BGP and TCP/UDP, security protocols such as WAF and SASE, and performance optimization. You will utilize AI-augmented workflows to automate routine tasks while leveraging skills in Python, JavaScript, or Go for custom integrations. The role solves critical infrastructure challenges by ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of internet properties through sophisticated architectural design.
Lead technical discovery and map complex customer infrastructure to Cloudflare products like DNS, CDN, and Zero Trust.
Design and present tailored architectural diagrams and demonstrations to address specific security and performance challenges.
Manage the full customer lifecycle from pre-sales validation through onboarding, deployment architecture, and expansion.
Create structured migration blueprints and provide technical guidance for customer engineering teams during implementation.
Drive revenue growth by identifying cross-sell opportunities and conducting technical Quarterly Business Reviews for C-level executives.
Utilize AI tools and LLMs to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and internal documentation.
Develop and document standard operating procedures and technical resources to improve the organization's technical baseline.
What we're looking for
Must have experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Technical Account Management.
Must possess an architectural mindset to design and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures.
Must have the ability to translate deeply technical concepts into business outcomes for both engineers and C-level executives.
Must have a proven track record in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment with knowledge of SaaS metrics.
Candidates must demonstrate depth in at least four areas: Internet fundamentals, Security, Performance, AI Proficiency, Coding/Scripting, or Developer Platform Fluency.
Preferred experience includes technical enablement, LLM orchestration, RAG architectures, and regulatory knowledge like PCI DSS or SOC 2.
Must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Must be authorized to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.
