As a Customer Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor and primary architect within the go-to-market organization to guide enterprise clients through the entire customer journey. You will be responsible for technical validation, designing complex infrastructure architectures involving DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, and Network Security, while managing proof of concepts and tailored technical presentations. The role requires you to oversee onboarding, provide migration blueprints, and drive platform adoption to meet specific business outcomes. You will utilize AI-augmented workflows, including LLMs and prompt engineering, to automate routine tasks. Key technical competencies include internet fundamentals like BGP and TCP/UDP, security protocols such as WAF and SASE, and programming in Python, JavaScript, or Go. You will solve critical performance and reliability challenges by translating complex technical capabilities into measurable value for stakeholders.
Lead technical discovery and map complex customer infrastructure to Cloudflare products like DNS, CDN, and Zero Trust.
Define and manage the scope, success criteria, and execution plans for Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
Deliver tailored technical presentations and architectural diagrams to address specific performance, security, and reliability challenges.
Design migration blueprints and provide step-by-step consulting for customer engineering teams during onboarding.
Monitor customer health scores and telemetry to resolve integration bottlenecks and ensure rapid time-to-value.
Drive revenue growth by identifying cross-sell opportunities and leading technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for executives.
Utilize AI agents and LLMs to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and internal documentation.
Create and maintain technical resources, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and architectural best practices.
What we're looking for
Must have experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, or Technical Account Management.
Must possess an architectural mindset to design and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures.
Must have the ability to translate deeply technical concepts into business outcomes for both engineers and C-level executives.
Must have a proven track record of operating in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment.
Must demonstrate depth in at least four areas: Internet fundamentals, Security, Performance, AI Proficiency, Coding/Scripting, or Developer Platform Fluency.
Must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Must be authorized to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.
