As a CPU Performance Analysis Engineer within the SoC Architecture team, you will focus on performance analysis, tuning, and roadmap projections for various workloads. Your daily responsibilities include collecting performance data, conducting detailed workload characterization on silicon and simulators, and developing single-threaded and multi-threaded behavior models of industry standard benchmarks. You will build tools to project SoC benchmark performance using analytical models and create competitive prediction models to compare CPU and SoC performance. The role requires a strong grasp of computer architecture and OS fundamentals, along with proficiency in C, C++, x86, and ARM assembly. You will utilize scripting languages like Bash, Perl, and Python while leveraging hardware profiling tools such as Vtune or perf. This position addresses the technical challenge of modeling behavior and predicting performance across server and client domains.
Collect CPU performance data for various workloads and industry standard benchmarks.
Conduct detailed workload characterization on silicon and performance simulators.
Profile workload execution to develop single-threaded and multi-threaded behavior models.
Develop tools and techniques to project SoC benchmark performance using simulators and analytical models.
Prepare benchmark projections for roadmap planning and competitive CPU/SoC analysis.
Build and maintain competitive performance prediction models.
Present competitive performance data in a concise manner to stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience, Master's with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in system architecture technology areas such as Power Systems, Shared Resource Management, or Thermal Management.
Strong grasp of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals.
Proficiency in C, C++, x86, and ARM compatible assembly language.
Strong scripting skills in Bash, Perl, or Python.
Familiarity with CPU performance models and experience with hardware/binary instrumentation tools like Vtune, perf, DynamoRio, or PIN.
Experience characterizing industry standard benchmarks (e.g., CPU2017, GeekBench) and workloads such as Memcached, NGINX, or Redis.
Experience in OS internals (Windows, Linux, Android), system programming, and compilers like GCC or LLVM.
