CPU Performance Research Engineer

What you'll do

• Perform self-guided exploratory studies to evaluate new CPU performance ideas and novel microarchitectures.
• Analyze workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities for product improvement.
• Prototype new features within the CPU architectural performance model.
• Assess the implementation cost of new features in coordination with RTL and design teams.
• Maintain and improve the simulation environment to increase team productivity.
• Contribute ideas for CPU performance features and model them for feasibility.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Master's degree in Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• PhD in Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• 2+ years of CPU Architecture work experience.
• 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C and C++.
• Proficiency in one or more areas of CPU architecture including fetch, decode, branch prediction, renaming, execute units, SIMD, load/store, MMU, caches, or retire (preferred).
• Experience working in a performance modeling environment (preferred).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl or Python (preferred).
