Controls & Automation Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and develop custom automated equipment for medical device assembly, inspection, packaging, and testing.
• Lead machine-building projects from initial concept through final commissioning and documentation.
• Program and integrate control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and motion controllers for new and existing equipment.
• Specify and source critical components such as actuators, sensors, vision systems, robotics, and control panels.
• Document machine designs by creating mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, and software versions.
• Troubleshoot and optimize machine performance to ensure reliability, safety, and ease of use.
• Ensure all automation solutions meet stringent regulatory and quality standards for medical manufacturing.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in machine design/build and automation within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in PLC programming such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
• Demonstrated experience with robotics, vision systems, pneumatics, and motion control.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with machine shop tools and prototyping (preferred).
• Experience with cleanroom-compatible machine design, FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and equipment validation (preferred).
