JOB TITLE: Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Automation As a Controls Engineer, you will join the manufacturing automation team to build and maintain the controls systems running the production floor. You will contribute to architecture, PLC/HMI development, commissioning, proof of rate, and sustainment. Day-to-day responsibilities include deploying OT/IT server infrastructure, designing production networking stacks, and building Ignition Perspective SCADA applications. You will develop and debug PLC code on Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms while applying OT security practices like IEC 62443 segmentation and Purdue-model layering. Required skills include proficiency in MQTT, OPC UA, TCP/IP, and industrial Ethernet. You will also manage firewalls, AWS EC2 instances, and physical network cabling. This role solves technical challenges in high-volume manufacturing by integrating automated controls with secure, industrial-grade networking and cybersecurity standards.

What you'll do

Develop and debug PLC code on Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms for high-volume manufacturing.
Build Ignition Perspective SCADA applications including views, tag architecture, and alarm pipelines.
Deploy and maintain OT/IT server infrastructure such as Ignition gateways, historians, and MQTT brokers.
Design and maintain the production OT networking stack including MQTT, OPC UA, and TCP/IP.
Apply OT security practices including air-gapped design, network segmentation, and server hardening.
Perform hands-on network infrastructure tasks like running cabling and configuring switches.
Manage firewalls and AWS EC2 instances that support production infrastructure.
Support controls systems across their lifecycle from architecture and commissioning to sustainment handoff.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Information Technology, or a related field.
4+ years of controls and automation experience in a production environment.
Solid PLC programming skills on Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms.
Proficiency in Ignition SCADA development, including gateway modules like Tag Historian, Alarm Notification, SQL, OPC UA, and MQTT.
Working proficiency across the OT stack including MQTT, OPC UA, TCP/IP, industrial Ethernet, VLANs, switching, and routing.
Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity, including air-gapped networks, network segmentation, server hardening, and secure remote access.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Experience in regulated or defense manufacturing environments (ITAR/EAR-controlled, CMMC, or FDA/aerospace quality systems) (preferred).
