Cloud Data Engineer The Cloud Data Engineer serves as a subject matter expert involved in all phases of software development, from design to implementation and troubleshooting. You will design and implement scalable cloud data architectures using Snowflake and Azure while managing environments including warehouses, roles, and resource monitors. The role requires expertise in complex SQL, cloud networking, and CI/CD pipelines. You will also manage performance monitoring and cost optimization strategies. This position addresses technical challenges within the healthcare information systems domain, specifically involving research data models like OMOP or CAPriCORN to solve complex data integration problems.

What you'll do

Design and implement scalable cloud data architectures using Snowflake and Azure.
Configure Snowflake environments including warehouses, roles, resource monitors, and data sharing.
Manage Azure services such as Data Factory, Blob Storage, Data Lake Storage, and Key Vault.
Develop and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines to improve data flow and performance.
Implement security measures including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and data masking.
Monitor and optimize system performance and cost usage across Snowflake and Azure platforms.
Troubleshoot complex data load issues and performance bottlenecks.
Document architecture designs, data flows, and technical standards for the team.

What we're looking for

A 4-year college degree in computer science or information systems is preferred or equivalent experience.
4+ years of enterprise data warehouse industry experience.
2+ years of experience in cloud data engineering or cloud platform support.
4+ years of experience with data architecture and implementing data warehouse data marts.
4+ years of experience writing complex SQL.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake (data loading, SQL development, warehouse management) and Microsoft Azure services.
Understanding of cloud networking basics, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps concepts.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
