Catalyst Velocity Data Center Technician joins the Infrastructure Operations team to support mission-critical cloud infrastructure. This role involves performing technical work with limited supervision, including rack-and-stack activities for servers and network equipment, hardware break/fix tasks, and cabling infrastructure maintenance involving copper and fiber. The technician will manage inventory operations, perform root-cause analysis, and handle ticket management using tools like ServiceNow and JIRA. Key responsibilities include installing, upgrading, and decommissioning hardware while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Candidates should possess skills in TCP/IP networking fundamentals, Linux command-line operations, and experience with RAID and fiber optics. The role addresses the technical challenge of maintaining reliable, secure, and efficient large-scale cloud infrastructure by managing the physical lifecycle of servers, storage systems, and networking components to ensure continuous operational uptime for global customers.
Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network equipment, and related infrastructure.
Install, upgrade, replace, troubleshoot, and decommission server and network hardware components.
Install, label, test, and maintain copper and fiber cabling infrastructure to ensure connectivity.
Manage inventory by receiving, auditing, tracking, staging, and shipping equipment.
Troubleshoot hardware and infrastructure issues independently while documenting findings in ServiceNow or JIRA.
Perform root-cause analysis and escalate complex technical issues with full supporting information.
Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
Identify recurring operational issues and recommend improvements for process efficiency.
What we're looking for
Candidates must have an Associate Degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related field.
Candidates must have four years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience.
Candidates must have two years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, or electronics.
Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Candidates should possess knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and Linux command-line experience.
Preferred qualifications include experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments including climbing ladders and working at heights.
Candidates must be able to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
