What you'll do

  • Develop and lead Block's public policy and government relations strategy across the United States.
  • Identify and prioritize legislative and regulatory developments regarding payments, banking, digital assets, and AI.
  • Create narratives and thought leadership content to communicate Block’s mission to legislators and the public.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior policymakers, government officials, and key regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate with legal, compliance, and product teams to align policy strategy with business goals.
  • Design and execute advocacy strategies including coalition building and participation in legislative processes.
  • Manage a high-performing team of policy professionals, external advisors, and lobbyists.
  • Provide strategic leadership and counsel on company priorities as a member of the Counsel leadership team.

What we're looking for

  • You must have at least 15 years of public policy experience.
  • Preference is given to candidates with experience in the US government and within the financial services and technology sectors.
  • You must have at least 10 years of experience managing teams of policy professionals, including budgeting and strategic planning.
  • You must have a strong background in advocacy and policy development regarding global financial services issues.
  • You must be an exceptional communicator capable of translating complex regulatory and technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • You must demonstrate success building high-performing teams and leading multi-stakeholder advocacy campaigns.
  • You must possess the ability to build coalitions across different ideological and institutional lines.
