TL;DR · AV Service Operations Program Manager

The AV Service Operations Program Manager coordinates programs and processes to keep the autonomous vehicle fleet maintained, serviceable, and ready for operations and testing. Working within the Service Operations team, this individual contributor collaborates with Fleet Management, technicians, and suppliers to create work plans, track execution, and resolve issues. Daily responsibilities include managing technician work orders, tracking retrofit status, overseeing inventory planning for parts and tools, and coordinating training programs across multiple sites. The role requires expertise in automotive service, fleet operations, and technical troubleshooting. Key skills include program management, data discipline, and the ability to manage complex dependencies. Candidates should be proficient in using structured systems for tracking work orders and configurations while navigating technical challenges related to vehicle diagnostics, software-defined vehicle architectures, and post-collision repair workflows to ensure consistent fleet uptime and safety.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate daily technician work plans and execution across multiple sites in partnership with Fleet Management.
  • Translate maintenance plans, vehicle change requests, and retrofit requirements into actionable technician assignments and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records for work orders, vehicle configurations, parts inventory, and repair status in official GM systems.
  • Manage the procurement and availability of service parts, tools, and diagnostic equipment to ensure fleet readiness.
  • Oversee the execution of retrofits by tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring all documentation is completed.
  • Develop and manage technician training plans covering safety, technical skills, and new vehicle platforms.
  • Establish standard work processes, checklists, and reporting dashboards to ensure consistent service across all locations.
  • Partner with reliability teams to resolve technical issues and integrate field feedback into the service process.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, Operations, Program Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive, autonomous vehicle, fleet, service engineering, test operations, manufacturing, or technical operations.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating technical programs, workstreams, maintenance activity, service execution, or fleet operations.
  • Experience working with technicians, engineers, fleet teams, suppliers, or other technical partners to plan and execute work.
  • Experience using structured systems or tools to manage work orders, actions, issues, parts, configuration, status, or operational data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, identify dependencies, and drive work to documented completion.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle legally on a regular basis.
  • Experience with GM systems, vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, retrofit execution, or software-defined vehicle programs (preferred).
