As an Automation & Controls Engineer, Infrastructure & Utility (Starship), you will join the Infrastructure Engineering team to design, build, operate, and maintain critical power, HVAC, utility, and fluids systems for Starship launch, production, and propellant generation. Key technical skills include experience with Ignition, Allen Bradley, Siemens devices, IEC-61131 programming, and industrial protocols like Modbus and DNP3. You will also utilize C#, .NET, Python, or SQL to solve complex engineering problems related to large-scale ground infrastructure and utility systems for rocket production.

What you'll do

Design, build, operate, and maintain SCADA systems for ground infrastructure and utility systems at Starbase.
Manage control and automation upgrades to scale systems for Starship production targets.
Develop and deploy standardized automation for critical power and utility systems.
Design and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications in high-reliability environments.
Create and modify electrical and pneumatic schematics using tools like EPLAN or AutoCAD.
Design industrial electrical control panels compliant with NFPA 79, NEC, and UL 508A standards.
Develop Statements of Work (SOW) and manage contractor work to meet production needs.
Audit manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation improvements.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline.
1+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and working on automation and control systems.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
Professional Engineering (PE) license or intention to pursue one (preferred).
3+ years of professional experience in a similar role (preferred).
Experience with HMI applications, SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial communication protocols (preferred).
Proficiency in electrical schematic CAD tools, C#, .NET, Python, or SQL (preferred).
Ability to perform hands-on work in hazardous environments, including lifting 25 lbs and providing 24/7 on-call support.
