TL;DR · Antenna Systems Engineer, Antenna Calibration

As an Antenna Systems Engineer on the Amazon Leo team, you will contribute to the development of high-performance phased array antenna systems for a low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. You will be responsible for designing and implementing phased array calibration systems, signals, processing, and algorithms while performing performance analysis and design trade-off studies. Your daily work involves end-to-end modeling, simulation, and analysis of baseband, RF, and antenna systems, alongside lab measurement and validation of subsystems. To succeed, you must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering and experience with DSP techniques, digital modulation, radio architecture, and RF system design. You will utilize tools such as Matlab, Python, C++, SystemVue, ADS, or LabView, while working within Linux environments to fine-tune radio designs using equipment like VSAs, VSGs, VNAs, and Oscilloscopes.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement phased array calibration systems, signals, processing, and algorithms.
  • Perform performance analysis and design trade-off studies for phased arrays.
  • Conduct end-to-end modeling, simulation, and analysis of baseband, RF, and antenna systems.
  • Execute lab measurements to validate the performance of antennas and related subsystems.
  • Fine-tune radio designs in coordination with antenna, modem, RF, and digital teams.
  • Develop software and scripts using languages such as Python, C++, or Matlab for system testing.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering with coursework in digital communication theory, DSP, RF/Microwave Engineering, Antennas, and Electromagnetic theory.
  • At least 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems.
  • Experience in DSP techniques, digital modulation, radio architecture, line-up analysis, and RF system design.
  • Experience with lab test equipment including VSAs, VSGs, VNAs, and Oscilloscopes.
  • Export control laws and regulations, candidates.
