As a Winter 2027 Propulsion Engineer Co-op, you will join the engineering team to support the selection and integration of aircraft engines, components, and fuel systems for unmanned air vehicles. Your daily responsibilities include designing, fabricating, and testing prototype components and control systems while planning and executing tests for propulsion systems. You will also coordinate with engine vendors, manage development projects, and provide CAD design support for internal aerodynamic loft, surfaces, and structures. The role requires proficiency in NX, Teamcenter, and an understanding of manufacturing methods like machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, and injection molding. Candidates should possess knowledge of jet and piston engine fundamentals, experience with engine cycle decks, and familiarity with Engine Management Systems. This role focuses on solving technical challenges related to unmanned aircraft propulsion and hardware integration.
Select and integrate aircraft engines, components, and fuel systems for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Design, fabricate, and test prototype components and control systems.
Plan, instrument, and execute tests of aircraft propulsion systems.
Coordinate with engine vendors to develop strategic partnerships and manage development projects.
Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
Perform CAD design for internal aerodynamic loft, surfaces, and structures.
What we're looking for
Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to export-controlled information or facilities.
Ability to complete an in-person 16 to 24-week internship in a specified office location during winter 2027.
Knowledge of jet and piston engine fundamentals (preferred).
Experience with engine cycle decks, testing engines/powertrain components, and designing mechanical parts or surface loft (CAD) (preferred).
Understanding of manufacturing methods such as machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, and injection molding (preferred).
Experience in NX/Teamcenter, Engine Management Systems, procurement, and machine shop safety protocols (preferred).
