The Staff Software Engineer joins the Global Time & Attendance team to ensure the reliability and optimization of mission-critical workforce management applications. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting complex production issues, managing Kubernetes pod configurations, and optimizing cloud infrastructure within the Walmart Cloud Native Platform. What we're looking for
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
6+ years of experience in software engineering, production engineering, SRE, or platform engineering.
Proficiency in Java, Python, Spring Boot, or similar technologies.
Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, pod management, and cloud-native infrastructure.
Strong SQL skills, database performance tuning, and query optimization experience.
Practical experience with ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Experience developing scripts, automation, and operational engineering tools.
Experience with DB optimization including PostgreSQL and CosmosDB (preferred).
Experience with Walmart Cloud Native Platform (WCNP) (preferred).
Experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
Knowledge of Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and observability tools (preferred).
Experience with Jenkins, GitHub, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (preferred).
Experience using GenAI, LLMs, or AI-assisted tools for software development and operational automation (preferred).
Knowledge of SRE principles, SLOs, SLIs, and reliability engineering practices (preferred).
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area (preferred).
