Test Engineer, Maritime Production joins the Maritime Manufacturing Technology team to bridge the gap between design engineering and physical execution for mission-critical defense hardware. This role involves owning the full hardware test lifecycle, from ingesting requirements to executing floor tests and on-water trials for advanced surface and undersea systems. Responsibilities include developing test architectures, designing and building custom test rigs and electrical ground support equipment, performing data acquisition with sensors and DAQ modules, and conducting root-cause failure analyses like 8D or FMEA. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in mechanical and electrical instrumentation, wiring harnesses, and power distribution systems. Preferred technical skills include proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, MATLAB, and Python. This role solves critical hardware verification challenges for autonomous surface vessels and marine payloads within a high-stakes maritime defense environment.
Develop comprehensive Test & Evaluation Plans and standard operating procedures based on system requirements.
Design, fabricate, and validate specialized test fixtures and electrical ground support equipment.
Execute hands-on integration, functional testing, and environmental validation on production floors and during maritime trials.
Install and calibrate instrumentation to collect and analyze empirical data against performance targets.
Lead root-cause failure analyses for hardware anomalies and drive corrective design actions.
Manage technical interfaces with hardware suppliers and provide updates to internal stakeholders.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians while overseeing multi-line test execution.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
3–7+ years of experience in test engineering, integration, and operational evaluation of complex electro-mechanical hardware.
Proven ability to manage the full test lifecycle from requirement ingestion to building rigs and executing floor tests.
Proficiency with mechanical/electrical instrumentation, sensor integration, wiring harnesses, and data acquisition tools.
Strong root-cause troubleshooting skills for electro-mechanical, power distribution, or control systems.
Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Experience with maritime/autonomous systems, aerospace flight test, 3D CAD tools, or Python (preferred); Active Secret/Top Secret clearance (preferred).
