The Systems Engineering Lead serves as a technical subject matter expert providing leadership for the definition, integration, verification, and lifecycle support of RF ASIC capabilities within larger system architectures. This role acts as a bridge between system requirements and ASIC implementation, ensuring solutions align with mission objectives, platform constraints, and performance budgets. Day-to-day responsibilities include translating system requirements into functional allocations, managing performance budgets like gain and noise figure, conducting trade studies for SWaP and reliability, and coordinating integration with antennas, front ends, and digital processing. The role requires expertise in RF systems, RFIC/ASIC development, and systems engineering principles including traceability and interface management. Candidates must possess skills in modeling, simulation, and risk management while navigating the complexities of aerospace, defense, communications, radar, EW, SIGINT, or space systems to ensure system-level compliance.
Translate system and subsystem requirements into specific RF ASIC functional and performance allocations.
Manage RF ASIC performance budgets including gain, noise figure, linearity, power, and spectral purity.
Conduct trade studies to evaluate RF ASIC architectures regarding performance, SWaP, reliability, and lifecycle cost.
Coordinate the integration of RF ASICs with antennas, front ends, digital processing, and thermal interfaces.
Identify technical risks related to manufacturability, qualification, and obsolescence while developing mitigation plans.
Support modeling, simulation, and test activities to ensure system-level compliance and performance.
Lead design reviews, root cause investigations, and customer technical engagements for RF ASIC technologies.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience, a graduate degree and 7 years of experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Active Secret Security Clearance required.
Significant experience in RF systems, RFIC/ASIC development, or system integration involving RF subsystems.
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles including requirements development, allocation, traceability, interface management, and verification.
Working knowledge of RF ASIC technologies and their effects on system-level behavior.
Ability to perform trade studies, system performance analysis, and risk assessments.
Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering (preferred); experience in aerospace, defense, or space systems (preferred).
