TL;DR · Switch Quality Engineer

As a Switch Quality Engineer, you will join the quality and reliability team to drive supplier and manufacturing excellence for next-generation switch products supporting AI, cloud, and high-performance computing solutions. You will partner with design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing teams to ensure product quality from initial release through full lifecycle deployment. Your daily responsibilities include leading data-driven quality improvements, managing NPI transitions, performing root cause investigations using 8D and 5-Why methodologies, and resolving firmware and hardware defects. You will utilize tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and JIRA to analyze manufacturing yield metrics and switch telemetry. The role requires expertise in networking hardware, switch architectures, AI fabric interconnects, and high-speed optical interconnects. You will also manage supplier quality scorecards and oversee reliability testing such as HALT and HASS for data center networking environments.

What you'll do

  • Drive supplier and internal teams to achieve high-quality product releases through test plan reviews and failure analysis.
  • Manage quality activities including part approval, process control, risk identification, and mitigation planning during NPI transitions.
  • Monitor manufacturing yield, first-pass yield excursions, and field performance metrics to drive corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5-Why, and statistical analysis to resolve hardware and firmware defects.
  • Analyze large datasets of test telemetry and manufacturing data to provide actionable recommendations for product reliability.
  • Serve as the primary quality interface with suppliers to manage customer escalations and ensure long-term resolution.
  • Define supplier build report expectations, including quality metrics, yield monitoring, and escalation requirements.
  • Travel to supplier locations to conduct audits, investigations, and continuous improvement activities.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with switch architectures, networking systems, AI fabric interconnects, and system-level quality concepts (preferred).
  • Proficiency in DFx, xFMEA, NUDD, root cause analysis, statistical process control, and reliability testing (preferred).
  • Experience supporting cloud service providers, hyperscale customers, or data center networking environments (preferred).
  • Proven experience leading quality excursions and resolving complex manufacturing, supplier, and customer issues (preferred).
  • Ability to derive data-driven insights from large datasets and telemetry to influence technical decision-making (preferred).
  • Experience working with ODMs and CMs to establish manufacturing quality requirements (preferred).
  • Familiarity with hardware/firmware interaction and reliability qualification methodologies like HALT or HASS (preferred).
