TL;DR · Supplier Development Engineer, PCB

The Supplier Development Engineer, PCB (Starlink) joins a cross-functional team to ensure the continuity of supply for printed circuit boards within the Starlink program. This role involves managing suppliers from initial concept through full-scale production while collaborating with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to execute strategic supply chain goals. Key responsibilities include identifying and onboarding new suppliers, implementing production part approval processes, monitoring statistical process controls, and driving root cause failure analysis for quality gaps. The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and experience with PCBs, engineering laminates, or microelectronics fabrication. Preferred qualifications include expertise in high-speed and RF applications, knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and ISO standards, as well as proficiency in Six Sigma and 8D problem-solving methodologies to optimize manufacturing yields and reduce cycle times for satellite and gateway hardware.

What you'll do

  • Manage the continuity of supply for printed circuit boards (PCBs) on the Starlink program.
  • Identify, audit, and onboard new suppliers while evaluating their manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Develop and implement technical requirements and quality flow downs to meet hardware manufacturing needs.
  • Execute production part approval processes (PPAP) and monitor supplier process controls for critical characteristics.
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and drive improvement plans.
  • Drive root cause failure analysis and corrective actions for all quality gaps or defects.
  • Provide technical feedback to suppliers to reduce costs, shorten cycle times, and increase yields.
  • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and suppliers to resolve manufacturing issues.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with printed circuit boards (PCBs), engineering laminates, electrochemical processes, and/or microelectronics fabrication.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, business, or supply chain is preferred.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, preferably for high-speed or RF applications.
  • Working knowledge of supplier quality processes such as PPAP, APQP, FAIR, RCCA, lean methods, and ISO quality systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques including SPC, design of experiments, and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to travel between 25-60% domestically and internationally.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
