TL;DR · Supplier Development Engineer, Harnessing

Supplier Development Engineer, Harnessing (Starlink) joins a team focused on managing the supply chain for copper and fiber cable harnessing within the Starlink program. The role involves owning continuity of supply, identifying and onboarding new suppliers, and implementing production part approval processes to ensure high-quality manufacturing at scale. You will collaborate with design, R&D, and production teams to audit supplier quality systems, develop technical requirements, and drive root cause failure analysis for any quality gaps. Key responsibilities include monitoring statistical process control, improving yields, and managing cost reductions. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and experience with copper or fiber harnessing. Preferred skills include knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FAIR, RCCA, lean methods, ISO 9000/TS/AS9100/NADCAP standards, Six Sigma, and 8D problem-solving techniques to resolve complex manufacturing issues.

What you'll do

  • Own continuity of supply for copper and fiber cable harnessing on the Starlink program.
  • Identify, audit, and onboard new suppliers while assessing their manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Develop and implement supplier technical requirements and quality flow downs to meet hardware needs.
  • Manage production part approval processes (PPAP) and monitor supplier process controls for critical characteristics.
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and drive improvement plans.
  • Drive supplier root cause failure analysis and corrective actions for quality gaps or defects.
  • Provide technical feedback to suppliers to reduce costs, cycle times, and improve yields.
  • Act as the internal owner of supplier statistical process control (SPC) and yield improvement activities.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with copper or fiber harnessing and cable manufacturing.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, business, or supply chain is preferred.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality processes including PPAP, APQP, FAIR, RCCA, and lean methods.
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9000, TS, AS9100, or NADCAP.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques like SPC, Six Sigma, and design of experiments.
  • Ability to travel between 25% and 60% of the time domestically and internationally.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for export control authorizations.
