This role involves leading the selection, architecture, and integration of aircraft engines and control systems while designing, fabricating, and testing prototype components. The engineer will manage vendor partnerships, coordinate development projects, and support critical hardware demonstrations. Key responsibilities include performing surface loft CAD design for inlet and exhaust shaping, utilizing thermodynamic engine cycle decks for performance predictions, and executing propulsion test programs. Required skills include expertise in jet engines within the 250-20,000 lbf thrust class, manufacturing methods like machining and composites, and proficiency in tools such as NX, Teamcenter, Python, MATLAB, and IADs to solve complex integration challenges in contested environments.

What you'll do

  • Architect and integrate aircraft engines, components, and control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Design, fabricate, and test prototype components and propulsion control systems.
  • Plan, instrument, and execute comprehensive testing of aircraft propulsion systems.
  • Manage development projects and build strategic partnerships with engine vendors.
  • Lead critical hardware demonstrations for customers to showcase system capabilities.
  • Perform CAD design for inlet/exhaust shaping, surfaces, and structural components.
  • Provide technical feedback and conduct design reviews for mechanical parts.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 12+ years of propulsion engineering experience on manned or unmanned air vehicles.
  • Professional experience with jet engines in the 250-20,000 lbf thrust class.
  • Experience leading the integration of propulsion systems into air vehicles as a technical authority for major subsystems.
  • Experience utilizing, customizing, or tailoring thermodynamic engine cycle decks for installed engine performance predictions.
  • Experience defining comprehensive propulsion test programs and troubleshooting anomalies.
  • Experience designing mechanical parts and surface loft (CAD) with ability to perform design reviews.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Experience in NX, Teamcenter, Python, MATLAB, or IADs (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with jet engine testing including instrumentation and data processing (preferred).
  • Previous work at a jet engine OEM or supplier with understanding of performance trade-offs (preferred).
  • Knowledge of FADEC, Engine Management Systems, or equivalent aircraft engine control systems (preferred).
