TL;DR · Staff Mechanical Technical Program Manager

The Staff Mechanical Technical Program Manager joins the Data Center Platform Engineering Group to lead the planning and execution of mechanical system development for AI and hyperscale server platforms. This role serves as a mechanical system integrator, overseeing the full product lifecycle from initial concept through design, validation, and production ramp. The manager is responsible for developing chassis, rack integration, air and liquid cooling solutions, and structural components while ensuring high performance and manufacturability. Key responsibilities include managing DFM, DFA, and DFR practices, leading prototype build cycles like EVT, DVT, and PVT, and overseeing mechanical validation such as shock and vibration testing. The role requires expertise in thermal management, mechanical design for server systems, and BOM strategy to solve complex challenges regarding structural integrity, cable management, and serviceability within data center infrastructures.

What you'll do

  • Lead the planning and execution of mechanical system development for AI and hyperscale server platforms.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle including chassis design, cooling solutions, structural integrity, and rack integration.
  • Act as a systems integrator to align mechanical, thermal, electrical, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Drive DFM, DFA, and DFR best practices in partnership with manufacturing and supplier teams.
  • Lead prototype build cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT) to ensure mechanical readiness and build quality.
  • Oversee mechanical validation testing including shock, vibration, and safety requirements.
  • Manage the mechanical BOM strategy, including component sourcing, cost optimization, and configuration control.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for mechanical and thermal issues.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree (MS) is preferred.
  • Proven experience leading mechanical system development programs across the full product lifecycle from concept to sustaining.
  • Technical expertise in thermal management, mechanical design for server systems, and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience driving DFM, DFA, and DFR methodologies and managing prototype build cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT).
  • Proficiency in mechanical BOM lifecycle management, change control, and supplier engagement.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams across mechanical, thermal, electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain departments.
  • Experience with system-level troubleshooting and supporting customer engagements for field issues.
