TL;DR · Senior Rack and Chassis Design Mechanical Engineer

As a Sr. Rack and Chassis Design Mechanical Engineer, you will join the Mechanical Design and Development team to build the physical backbone of next-generation AI infrastructure. You will lead mechanical design and architecture for flagship server and GPU products, managing projects from early concept through production. Your daily work involves designing rack-level systems, integrating cooling solutions, and ensuring high-volume manufacturability and reliability. You will perform mechanical modeling in Creo, conduct tolerance analysis, and execute structural and finite element analysis to solve complex thermal and mechanical challenges. The role requires expertise in sheet metal, injection molding, and die casting while collaborating with global teams to integrate silicon into high-performance computing environments. You will provide technical mentorship and drive innovation in server and switch development to meet demanding performance goals for data center products.

What you'll do

  • Lead the mechanical design and architecture for flagship server products and GPU systems in data centers.
  • Develop high-density infrastructure and advanced liquid cooling solutions for high-performance computing hardware.
  • Perform mechanical modeling, tolerance analysis, and system-level design using Creo software.
  • Champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) principles for high-volume production.
  • Conduct post-silicon development activities including test planning, characterization, and data analysis.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers while making key decisions in design reviews.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of mechanical design processes and innovative engineering methodologies.

What we're looking for

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Seasoned experience in mechanical design and development at the senior or lead level within the server and switch development fields.
  • Proficiency in electromechanical product design, integration, and validation for high-performance computing hardware, specifically at the rack and system levels.
  • Advanced proficiency with CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks, including advanced modeling and assembly management skills.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical materials, manufacturing processes like sheet metal and injection molding, and DFM/DFA principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of thermal management, cooling systems, structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience in the integration of silicon into system-level products for high-performance computing environments.
  • Preferred experience with optics and laser technologies.
