Staff Engineer, Intelligent Customer Experiences

What you'll do

• Build Generative UIs that adapt in real-time to create streaming, multi-modal conversational experiences.
• Manage backend orchestration for Agentic Workflows, including Tool-use, Chains, and Policy Layers.
• Architect security layers for conversational interfaces to maintain Zero Trust principles and financial data privacy.
• Partner with product leadership to identify high-impact flows for intelligent automation.
• Own the end-to-end technical lifecycle from backend data pipelines to frontend components.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for AI initiatives across global geographies.
• Mentor engineers and establish technical standards for the entire Adyen ecosystem.

What we're looking for

• You must be able to work from the San Francisco office as the company is office-first.
• You must have experience building production-grade interfaces powered by LLMs, including RAG architectures and policy enforcement.
• You must be deeply proficient in Java for secure backend services.
• You must be deeply proficient in TypeScript, React, or Vue for complex front-end applications.
• You must have a track record of partnering with product teams to turn ambiguous goals into technical reality.
• You must have a security-by-design mindset regarding the handling of sensitive financial data.
• You must have experience building Agentic Workflows and managing backend orchestration like Tool-use, Chains, and Policy Layers.
