Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (Electrical), Amazon Leo joins the Leo team to manage supplier quality for aerospace-grade electronics. This role involves defining requirements, conducting audits, and overseeing production process validations to ensure high-quality hardware is manufactured at scale. The engineer will lead activities including qualification, CAPA, and metrics reporting while partnering with manufacturing teams to maintain compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 standards. Key responsibilities include managing PCB fabrication and PCBA manufacturing processes, reducing defect parts-per-million, and influencing engineering design decisions for sustainable quality. The role requires expertise in IPC standards, including IPC-A-610, IPC-600, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-6012. Candidates should possess experience with APQP/PPAP and failure analysis techniques such as X-ray, CT imaging, and FTIR. The position addresses the challenge of scaling aerospace quality to high-volume production for a low Earth orbit satellite constellation.
Lead supplier quality management activities including requirements definition, qualification, production validation, and CAPA.
Serve as a subject matter expert for PCB fabrication and PCBA manufacturing processes.
Scale supplier processes to reduce defect parts-per-million (DPPM) during high-volume production.
Guide product development teams on supplier selection, assessment, and audit decisions.
Influence engineering design decisions and supplier investments to ensure sustainable quality and reduced risk.
Establish and monitor mechanisms to verify that supplier production processes remain in control.
Lead external audit teams and manage the implementation of the internal Quality System.
Analyze and improve supplier quality metrics to drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or process engineering within PCB fabrication or PCBA manufacturing environments.
Working knowledge of IPC standards including IPC-A-610, IPC-600, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-6012.
Experience with APQP/PPAP or production part qualification in high-reliability industries such as aerospace, satellite, medical device, or automotive.
Expertise in PCB fabrication, PCBA manufacturing, inspection, and process control methodologies.
Ability to lead external audit teams and manage supplier quality activities like CAPA and metrics reporting.
Proficiency in failure analysis techniques including cross-sectioning, SEM/EDS, X-ray, CT imaging, and root cause investigation.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
