Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (Electrical), Amazon Leo joins the Leo team to manage supplier quality for aerospace-grade hardware. This role involves defining requirements and deploying processes to ensure high-quality PCB and PCBA manufacturing at scale. You will lead activities including requirement definition, qualification, production process validation, CAPA, and metrics reporting while guiding product development teams on supplier selection and audits. The position requires expertise in PCB fabrication, PCBA manufacturing, and inspection methodologies to reduce defect parts-per-million during volume production. Key technical requirements include knowledge of IPC standards such as IPC-A-610, IPC-600, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-6012, along with experience in APQP/PPAP for high-reliability industries like aerospace or medical devices. You will also utilize failure analysis techniques including X-ray, CT imaging, and SEM/EDS to resolve issues within the satellite manufacturing domain.
Lead supplier quality management activities including requirements definition, qualification, production process validation, and CAPA.
Act as a subject matter expert for PCB fabrication, PCBA manufacturing, and inspection methodologies.
Scale supplier processes and quality systems to reduce defect parts-per-million during high-volume production.
Guide product development teams on supplier selection, assessment, audit, and development decisions.
Influence engineering design decisions and supplier investments to ensure sustainable quality and reduced risk.
Establish and monitor mechanisms to verify that supplier production processes remain in control.
Lead external audit teams and manage the implementation of the company's Quality System.
Analyze and improve supplier quality metrics while representing the team in cross-functional initiatives.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
Must have 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or process engineering within PCB fabrication or PCBA manufacturing environments.
Must possess working knowledge of IPC standards including IPC-A-610, IPC-600, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-6012.
Must have experience with APQP/PPAP or production part qualification in high-reliability industries like aerospace, satellite, medical device, or automotive.
Preferred expertise in failure analysis techniques such as cross-sectioning, SEM/EDS, X-ray, CT imaging, and FTIR for contamination identification.
Must be a subject matter expert in PCB fabrication, PCBA manufacturing, inspection, and process control methodologies.
Must possess strong analytical abilities and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel as needed to accomplish program objectives and visit supplier operations.
