The Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineer joins the engineering team at L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions to support the end-to-end development, integration, and production transition of advanced soldier borne and platform mounted sensing systems. This role involves performing engineering trade studies, translating customer requirements into architectures, and providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams. You will work with optical, sensor, mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to move products from concept to full-rate production. Key responsibilities include developing system-level specifications, conducting hands-on system builds, debugging, and performance testing, while managing technical risks and requirements traceability. The position requires expertise in systems engineering processes, hardware and software integration, and troubleshooting. The work focuses on ruggedized integrated vision technologies, including aiming lasers, laser range finders, and low light and fused sensor systems.
Perform engineering trade studies and analysis on existing and emerging integrated vision technologies.
Translate customer and system requirements into architectures, design concepts, and interface definitions.
Provide systems engineering guidance across multidisciplinary teams including sensors, optics, mechanics, and firmware.
Develop and maintain system-level specifications, requirements, and verification methods.
Conduct hands-on system build, integration, debugging, and performance testing.
Lead technical problem solving throughout prototype development and production transition.
Support technical risk management, configuration management, and requirements traceability activities.
Coordinate with program management and manufacturing engineering to ensure smooth production ramp and sustainment.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a required security clearance.
Proven ability to communicate technical concepts and requirements across multidisciplinary teams (preferred).
Working knowledge of system engineering processes including requirements development, verification planning, and technical risk management (preferred).
Experience developing military or ruggedized products, soldier systems, or EO/IR sensors (preferred).
Working experience integrating and troubleshooting hardware/software systems (preferred).
