TL;DR · Senior Mobility Terminal System Engineer

As a Sr. Mobility Terminal System Engineer on the Leo Customer Terminal team at Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC, you will collaborate with electrical, hardware, RF, antenna, silicon, and product design engineers to architect, integrate, and validate mobility terminals for aviation, maritime, and automotive customers. Your daily tasks include developing mobile terminal architecture by working closely with sub-system engineers across various disciplines, designing tradeoffs of terminal architectures through simulations, and setting up the mobility lab for validation both in laboratory settings and with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. You will also engage proactively with internal and external partners on hardware and software architectures and ensure that all delivered work meets technical, functional, performance, regulatory, and business requirements. The role requires expertise in satellite terminal development, integration, and validation, as well as strong knowledge of communication systems, RF, phased array antenna, and proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++.

What you'll do

  • Develop mobile terminal architecture by collaborating with sub-system engineers.
  • Design tradeoffs for various terminal architectures using RF and performance simulations.
  • Establish a mobility lab to validate terminals in both lab and real-world settings.
  • Engage with internal and external partners on hardware and software implementation details.
  • Ensure all work meets technical, functional, regulatory, and business requirements.
  • Conduct in-field and on-orbit validation tests with satellites for terminal systems.

What we're looking for

  • Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field with 5+ years of satellite terminal development experience.
  • Strong understanding of communication systems, RF, and phased array antenna technology.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++ for system design and analysis.
  • Experience validating hardware components and subsystems using test instruments like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Development background in complex telecommunication, antenna, and satellite communication systems.
