What you'll do

  • Design and manage ground support equipment through full development and build cycles to support launch operations.
  • Coordinate with launch personnel to translate operational requirements into technical specifications for hardware.
  • Develop and approve performance, fabrication, acceptance test, and maintenance specifications for all equipment.
  • Manage external vendors and partners to ensure hardware meets specific technical requirements and project timelines.
  • Create technical documentation for maintenance procedures and proofload requirements.
  • Perform hand calculations and finite element analysis using Siemens NX and Femap to support design decisions.
  • Track and report on equipment schedules, budgets, and technical status throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify root causes of hardware failures and implement corrective actions or modifications at launch sites.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, material science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of technical expertise applying engineering principles and coordinating workloads to meet deadlines.
  • 10+ years of experience with the design and integration of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and lifting fixtures.
  • 10+ years of experience in CAD modeling and drawings using programs such as Nastran, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
  • Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks and maintain a valid U.S. Passport.
  • Willingness to perform extensive travel up to 25% annually for business needs.
