As a Manufacturing Engineer at Amazon Leo, you will join the hardware development team to lead production process development for a critical module on next-generation spacecraft. Your daily responsibilities include supporting operations by resolving complex technical issues during quality containments and managing capacity increases through equipment procurement and qualification. You will work closely with development teams to design future iterations of systems and sub-assemblies while ensuring compliance with Lean manufacturing principles and employing advanced analytical tools like Minitab for statistical analysis. The role requires expertise in opto-mechanical systems, familiarity with low-rate manufacturing environments, and experience with CAD software such as NX Unigraphics.
Develop and maintain production processes for a key spacecraft module.
Define and lead the procurement and installation of new equipment to increase production capacity.
Collaborate with development teams on future system designs and associated test systems.
Conduct root cause analysis using techniques like Fishbone, Fault Tree, or DMAIC.
Implement lean manufacturing practices and principles in production environments.
What we're looking for
At least 2 years of hardware design and validation experience.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.
Experience with opto-mechanical systems including optical bonding and laser system fabrication.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing practices and principles.
Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques such as Fishbone and Fault Tree.
