Sr. Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Automation Engineer) joins the manufacturing systems team to drive digital transformation, reliability, and operational excellence through advanced automation technologies. This role focuses on the design, commissioning, and lifecycle management of control systems within a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include serving as a subject matter expert for MES, SCADA, and PLC integration while managing system documentation, troubleshooting, and validation activities to ensure cGMP compliance and data integrity. The candidate will work with Rockwell Automation PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems alongside AVEVA Wonderware Intouch platforms. Technical skills required include experience with OPC, Profibus, DeviceNet, and Ethernet/IP protocols, as well as knowledge of upstream and downstream bioprocess unit operations like bioreactors and chromatography. The role addresses the challenge of maintaining high-standard manufacturing infrastructure while ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in a regulated production setting.
Lead the implementation and support of MES, SCADA, and PLC integration processes for manufacturing systems.
Design, configure, and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
Manage automation system lifecycle activities including commissioning, qualification, testing, and startup support.
Ensure all systems comply with cGMP, data integrity, and cybersecurity requirements.
Develop technical documentation including user requirements, design specifications, test plans, and SOPs.
Perform root-cause analysis for deviations and manage corrective actions (CAPA) and change controls.
Analyze system performance data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Support capital project lifecycles from conceptual design and scope development through final handover.
What we're looking for
A Doctorate in Engineering and 2 years of experience, a Master’s in Engineering and 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s in Engineering and 4 years of experience.
Experience with AVEVA Wonderware Intouch configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management (preferred).
Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems including programming and integration (preferred).
Experience supporting automation systems in a regulated manufacturing environment (preferred).
Experience with virtual-server infrastructure, process-control networks, and industrial system integration (preferred).
Knowledge of computerized-system validation, data integrity, and applicable regulatory expectations (preferred).
Experience leading investigations, change controls, deviations, CAPAs, and corrective actions (preferred).
Master’s degree in Engineering and 2 years of Manufacturing Systems/Automation.
