The Sr. Director Software Engineering joins the Global Payment Network Digital Payments Technology organization to lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers on application capabilities, and improve software engineering practices across Agile teams. Daily responsibilities include designing, developing, and supporting technical solutions, breaking monolithic applications into microservices, and deploying applications into AWS environments. You will work with a stack including node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL, relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure. This role addresses the technical challenge of building a high-volume, low-latency, and resilient distributed ecosystem for complex money movement and secure commerce tokenization.

What you'll do

  • Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools.
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of software solutions.
  • Break existing monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices.
  • Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments.
  • Work with product managers to define desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices and team development velocity.

What we're looking for

  • At least 9 years of experience in software engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience in people management.
  • Experience with technologies including Java, Node.js, Go, Python, React, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Experience leading multiple teams of product-focused software engineers and mentoring their professional development.
  • Experience breaking monolithic applications into microservice architectures and deploying to AWS.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (preferred).
  • 13+ years of experience in software engineering (preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in Agile practices (preferred).
  • Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity (preferred).
