JOB TITLE: Sr Director, IT Head of Security Operations The Sr Director, IT Head of Security Operations leads the Security Operations function to safeguard scientific data, digital assets, and operational environments. Reporting to the CISO, this leader directs teams providing operational excellence across enterprise security capabilities, including Identity and Access Management, Endpoint Security, Network Security, Platform Security, and application security. Key responsibilities include defining multi-year security strategies, managing Managed Service Providers, overseeing operational budgets, and leading application security testing like SAST/DAST and penetration testing. The role requires expertise in SIEM, vulnerability management, cryptography, and cloud security while navigating NIST and MITRE frameworks. This position supports a digital and AI-driven transformation to secure research platforms and data environments, ensuring the organization maintains a strong security posture while accelerating the development and delivery of life-saving therapies.

What you'll do

Define and execute a multi-year Security Operations strategy and roadmap aligned with enterprise risk and business goals.
Lead the Security Operations function to provide operational excellence across identity, endpoint, network, platform, and application security.
Manage the Managed Service Provider (MSP) team by establishing and monitoring OKRs, KPIs, and service level metrics.
Oversee the Security Identity and Access Management team to deliver core identity security capabilities.
Manage the application security team, including penetration testing, security remediation, and tabletop exercises.
Own operational budget planning, vendor performance, and cost-of-ownership optimization for all security operations.
Drive continuous improvement and automation activities to reduce operational overhead and strengthen cyber resilience.
Represent Security Operations in enterprise governance, leadership risk discussions, and audit and compliance forums.

What we're looking for

Bachelor of Science degree in management information systems, computer science, engineering, or another IT-related major.
14+ years of relevant experience or 12+ years of experience with a master’s or PhD.
Minimum of 8-10 years of leadership responsibilities.
Information security related certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CCSP, or GIAC.
Expert knowledge of cybersecurity domains including Risk Management, IAM, Endpoint, Network, Platform, and Application Security.
Strong understanding of NIST cybersecurity, MITRE attack frameworks, and Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
Knowledge of healthcare-related regulations, data privacy, and information security risk management frameworks.
Previous work experience in a Biopharma organization (preferred).
Previous work experience in a cloud-centric environment (preferred).
