TL;DR · Specialist, Information Systems Security Engineer

Specialist, Information Systems Security Engineer joins the Network Security Engineering Team to support secure managed network and cloud solutions for federal government and enterprise customers. This role involves designing, implementing, and operating security controls across cloud-native applications and infrastructure while embedding security into the Software Development Lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will manage AWS environments using IAM, VPC networking, containers like EKS and Fargate, and serverless Lambda functions based on Zero Trust principles. Key responsibilities include automating controls via Terraform or CloudFormation, managing logging through GuardDuty and Security Hub, and ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP standards. Required technical skills include proficiency in Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting, along with experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and securing hybrid architectures to solve complex security challenges within highly regulated environments.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement secure AWS cloud and hybrid architectures based on Zero Trust principles.
  • Integrate security controls into Agile development cycles and Software Development Life Cycle processes.
  • Automate security controls within DevSecOps pipelines using Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD platforms.
  • Manage cloud-native logging, monitoring, and detection capabilities to support incident response.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and ISO 27001.
  • Secure containerized environments including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop scripts for security automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Validate security controls and maintain technical documentation in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree with experience, a Graduate degree with experience, or experience without a degree.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust suitability.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS security including IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, and VPC architecture.
  • Experience in network and platform security.
  • Experience securing containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and implementing DevSecOps practices within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell with Git-based version control.
  • Knowledge of secure architecture principles, networking technologies, Zero Trust, and SASE models (preferred).
  • Security clearance.
