The Specialist, FRACAS Systems Engineer joins the engineering team to evaluate and improve the reliability of Department of Defense communications systems, including wideband, narrowband, and SATCOM. This role focuses on the development, support, and management of the Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System process within a complex electronic, low volume environment. The engineer performs root cause analysis, investigates design and field failures, and makes design improvement recommendations to the Failure Review Board. Daily tasks include maintaining the FRACAS database, performing functional testing, and generating detailed repair reports for MRO and warranty units. Required skills include reliability analysis, Failure Mode and Fault Tree Analysis, and troubleshooting complex electronic systems. Preferred technical competencies include data mining using Business Objects and SQL.

What you'll do

Direct investigations to determine the root cause of design, production, and field failures for communication systems.
Make formal recommendations to the Failure Review Board regarding system improvements and corrective actions.
Maintain the FRACAS database by monitoring status, tracking open investigations, and generating management reports.
Review fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures while performing functional testing on assigned equipment.
Prepare detailed repair reports for MRO and warranty return units documenting findings and disposition recommendations.
Develop and present technical data to management and customers during formal reviews.
Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programs, Material Control, and Quality departments to resolve issues.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
Direct experience supporting a FRACAS program (preferred).
Familiarity with FRACAS software, Reliability Analysis, and Failure Mode / Fault Tree Analysis (preferred).
Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems including data link and mechanical systems (preferred).
Strong background in data mining using Business Objects and SQL (preferred).
Applicants must be U.S. citizens to obtain a required security clearance.
