The Sourcing Specialist, Mechanical Commodities (Starlink) joins the Starlink Supply Chain Department to support the Redmond production facility. Create sourcing strategies for all mechanical custom and COTS hardware components.
Develop a preferred supplier network to minimize costs and lead times for part fabrication.
Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals to adjust incoming materials.
Manage outsource fabrication projects including planning, stakeholder coordination, and vendor performance tracking.
Negotiate contracts and terms to maximize value, cost savings, and risk reduction.
Interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) to support production flow.
Perform onsite reviews of vendor capabilities and manufacturing processes.
Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned categories.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering.
Experience with MRP or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and managing bills of materials, work orders, and purchase orders.
Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, SQL, and PowerBI.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, waterjet, laser cutting, and sheet metal fabrication.
Familiarity with common material finishes and coatings including paint, powder coat, anodize, and heat treatment.
APICS certification, Six Sigma certification, or similar professional certifications are preferred.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
