As a Signal and Power Integrity Engineer - Serial IO Interface, you will join the team developing SOCs used within Apple devices. You are responsible for high-speed serial interface signal integrity and power integrity from silicon through package to board. Your daily work involves electrical and physical design of high-speed systems, including extraction and validation of packages and PCBs. You will perform 3D model extractions, simulations, and characterization while collaborating with circuit design teams and vendors to optimize designs. Key tasks include defining interface specifications, performing end-to-end PDN sign off, and conducting transient voltage noise simulations for inrush and coupled noise analysis. Required expertise includes USB or PCIe interfaces, transmission line theory, 3D/2D EM simulation tools, and lab equipment such as VNA, TDR, real-time scopes, and spectrum analyzers to solve complex signal integrity challenges.

What you'll do

Manage all aspects of signal and power integrity for high-speed SerDes interfaces.
Define, influence, and implement technical specifications for serial interface systems.
Perform 3D model extractions and simulations for silicon, package, and PCB components.
Drive co-design across SOCs, packages, and systems to optimize key performance indicators.
Execute end-to-end PDN sign-off including modeling of die, interposer, and power management units.
Conduct transient voltage noise simulations for inrush and coupled noise analysis.
Develop and execute test plans to validate signal and power integrity results.
Collaborate with product engineering teams to debug and improve product yield.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
PhD and 8+ years of industry experience or equivalent is preferred.
Experience in prior design and modeling with USB, PCIe, or comparable high-speed serial interfaces.
Proficiency in signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) for high-speed serdes interfaces.
Expertise in 3D/2D EM simulation tools and transmission line theory.
Experience with lab equipment including VNA, TDR, real-time scopes, and spectrum analyzers.
Experience with package and board design analysis, SI/PI methodology development, and lab correlation of simulation results.
Strong communication skills and an excellent academic background.
