Senior Software Platform Engineer, Apple Pay

What you'll do

• Design and build Kubernetes-native services, controllers, and APIs using Go.
• Create simple declarative APIs to automate complex infrastructure provisioning for application teams.
• Optimize platform performance and diagnose issues like memory growth and convergence failures across regions.
• Maintain high engineering standards through comprehensive test coverage and rigorous design reviews.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and convert incidents into permanent system guardrails.
• Utilize AI coding agents and LLM-based tooling to develop and verify production code.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong programming ability in Go with solid fundamentals in API design, concurrency, and error handling.
• Experience with distributed systems covering idempotency, eventual consistency, retries, and partial failure.
• Practical experience profiling systems and measuring performance fixes.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and extensive experience with at least one major cloud provider.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for design documents and incident write-ups.
• Experience writing Kubernetes controllers or operators in production (preferred).
• Experience with declarative configuration systems like Pkl, CUE, or Terraform (preferred).
