JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer The CNN Growth team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve systems and user experiences that drive audience growth, engagement, and monetization across digital platforms. In this role, you will work hands-on across the stack to design, build, and maintain production-ready software systems and user-facing features. You will develop server-side logic, APIs, and front-end components while ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable. The technical stack includes JavaScript, TypeScript, Node, Python, Svelte, Sass, and AWS services, alongside CI/CD pipelines and observability tools like Datadog or New Relic. What you'll do

Design, build, and maintain production-ready software systems and user-facing features.
Develop and maintain server-side logic and APIs for client-server communication.

Implement functional, accessible, and visually polished interfaces in collaboration with designers.
Integrate third-party libraries and services securely into the platform.
Participate in code and architecture reviews to champion engineering best practices.
Identify and address security, performance, and quality risks early in the development cycle.

What we're looking for

4+ years of experience building and maintaining production software systems.
4+ years of experience with JavaScript, including modern ES6+ and asynchronous patterns.
Experience designing and implementing APIs and web applications.
Hands-on familiarity with both client-side and server-side development.
Experience with performance monitoring and analytics tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue, Svelte, or React (preferred).
Experience with templating systems such as Handlebars (preferred).
