Senior Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end engineering efforts for Azure control-plane services from initial design through production operation.
• Investigate and resolve complex issues across distributed systems, infrastructure, and environmental dependencies using telemetry and logs.
• Design improvements to make Azure services more portable, reliable, and maintainable across various cloud environments.
• Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to diagnose outages and manage incident response for mission-critical services.
• Improve service delivery through automation, performance optimization, and the elimination of repetitive operational tasks.
• Provide technical leadership by conducting code reviews and guiding engineers on design and debugging practices.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to improve developer productivity while meeting security and compliance requirements.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and eligibility to maintain it.
• Verification of U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, debugging, or operating production services (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex software and distributed-system failures using source code, logs, telemetry, and debuggers (preferred).
• Experience reading, reviewing, and modifying unfamiliar codebases while tracing behavior across service layers (preferred).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts like concurrency, fault tolerance, consistency, and idempotency (preferred).
