Senior Software Engineer, Confluent Cloud Traffic

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and operationalize high-performance, scalable, and resilient software for the Confluent Cloud network data plane.
• Manage the performance, security, reliability, and cost optimizations for traffic entering and exiting customer Kafka clusters.
• Build and manage network data planes specifically for containerized workloads in cloud environments.
• Independently drive the execution of complex software projects to ensure high-quality production delivery.
• Develop and integrate open-source software components to achieve specific business impacts.
• Troubleshoot issues across a complex technical stack involving microservices, containers, and virtualization across three major clouds.
• Optimize network infrastructure for large-scale distributed systems.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Master's degree (preferred).
• 2+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience.
• 5+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience (preferred).
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
• Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, or other statically typed languages.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design, development, and systems-level understanding of disks, networks, and operating systems.
