Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Loan Origination and Reporting) joins the Engineering team to build and scale data platforms and services that process loan originations in real time while delivering accurate reporting to financial partners. This role involves owning quarterly goals, leading engineers through ambiguity, and collaborating with product management and design to navigate technical constraints and risks. The successful candidate will manage the operations of team artifacts, establish code review standards, and mentor others. Key responsibilities include designing and operating scalable backend data pipelines and batch processing systems. Required technical skills include experience with Python or Kotlin, as well as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Additionally, expertise in Spark and Airflow is required to solve complex problems within the core financial engine of the loan origination and reporting domain.
Build and scale data platforms and services for real-time loan processing and financial reporting.
Lead a team of engineers through ambiguity to deliver on quarterly goals and solve open-ended problems.
Design and operate scalable backend data pipelines and batch processing systems using Spark or Airflow.
Develop high-availability distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Create and monitor metrics to ensure the operation and availability of team artifacts.
Establish and improve code review and design standards to foster a culture of quality.
Provide feedback and guidance to develop the technical skills of team members.
Define technical plans for significant features using elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
What we're looking for
You must have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
You must have a track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
You must have deep expertise in designing and operating scalable backend data pipelines and batch processing systems using Spark, Airflow, or similar frameworks.
You must be able to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
You must be proficient at making significant changes in a large codebase while maintaining safety through tools and practices.
You must have strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with a global engineering team.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
