Key competencies include Domain-Driven Design, API design, database design, and experience with monitoring tools like Sentry, Rollbar, Chronosphere, and Kibana.

What you'll do

  • Build and expand the core platform backbone to support hundreds of thousands of global merchants.
  • Develop a new lifecycle-orchestrator service to consolidate merchant orchestration into a cohesive domain.
  • Modernize legacy codebases by simplifying systems and improving architectural isolation.
  • Execute technical strategies for complex, large-scale problems that impact multiple teams.
  • Design and align project scopes with other engineering teams to deliver cross-functional initiatives.
  • Mentor other engineers to support their professional development and growth.
  • Improve organizational engineering standards, tooling, and internal processes.
  • Utilize agentic development tools to automate parts of the software development lifecycle.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience as a backend software engineer.
  • Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in data models, API design (HTTP and RPC), state machines, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with database design and monitoring/alerting systems like Sentry, Rollbar, Chronosphere, or Kibana.
  • Experience designing and launching backend systems using AWS, gRPC, Snowflake, Kotlin, Python, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Java and Kotlin is especially helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical specs, ADRs, and project plans.
  • Ability to mentor other engineers and lead technical strategy for complex requirements.
