As a Senior Site Reliability Engineering- CTJ- Secret (Cleared Environments), you will join the Substrate team to lead reliability improvements across multiple services within highly regulated, sovereign, or compliance-sensitive environments. You will serve as a senior on-call engineer, providing technical leadership during high-severity incidents and conducting post-incident reviews to identify systemic issues. Your daily responsibilities include driving automation, monitoring, and observability strategies while designing and implementing reliability-focused software components and frameworks. You will also mentor other SREs and influence service architecture to reduce toil and operational risk. The role requires expertise in managing complex infrastructure for critical services like Exchange Online and M365 Copilot. Candidates must be able to obtain necessary security clearances, including Tier 3 investigations and CJIS eligibility, to work within government cloud environments such as GCC High and DoD.

What you'll do

Lead reliability and availability improvements for Substrate services in highly regulated environments.
Serve as a senior on-call engineer leading incident response for high-severity issues.
Provide hands-on technical leadership and coordination during complex incidents.
Conduct post-incident reviews to identify systemic issues and implement durable engineering improvements.
Develop automation, monitoring, and observability strategies to reduce incident volume and recovery time.
Design and implement reliability-focused software components and platforms across multiple services.
Influence service architecture and operational readiness in partnership with engineering teams.
Mentor and coach SREs while establishing best practices and technical standards.

What we're looking for

Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
Equivalent experience to the specified educational and experience requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 background investigation for GCCH and DoD environments.
Ability to meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) eligibility requirements for GCCM environments.
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
Doctorate degree and 3+ years of experience, or Master's with 6+ years, or Bachelor's with 8+ years of experience (preferred).
