TL;DR · Senior Silicon Product Definition Engineer

The Senior Silicon Product Definition Engineer joins the Silicon Co-Design Group to manage product definition across performance, power, yield, and quality for GPU, SoC, and CPU programs. This role involves analyzing large silicon datasets to identify constraints, building statistical models and automation workflows, and translating complex system signals into decision-ready options for executive leadership. The engineer will drive product configurations by addressing frequency, power, and thermal limitations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve root causes from bring-up through production. Required skills include proficiency in Python, Perl, JMP, or SQL, alongside a strong foundation in digital design, circuit analysis, and transistor physics. The role focuses on the technical challenge of optimizing performance-per-watt and managing process-voltage-temperature behavior across complex silicon products to ensure high-quality manufacturing outcomes for datacenter, gaming, and automotive markets.

What you'll do

  • Analyze large silicon datasets to identify product opportunities and trade-offs regarding performance, power, yield, and quality.
  • Identify frequency, power, and thermal constraints to drive specific configurations in silicon, firmware, BIOS, and drivers.
  • Build statistical models and automation workflows to improve the quality of data-driven decision making.
  • Lead multi-functional root-cause investigations with architecture, design, validation, and manufacturing teams from bring-up through production.
  • Evaluate performance-per-watt and voltage-temperature behavior to drive productized fixes for hardware and software.
  • Deliver BIOS-level VF settings across thermal, power, and frequency domains while debugging related issues.
  • Translate complex silicon signals into clear, decision-ready options for executive leadership regarding product configuration and risks.

What we're looking for

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in silicon product definition, post-silicon characterization, product engineering, or performance and power analysis for complex silicon products.
  • Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, performance-per-watt analysis, and optimization across process, voltage, and temperature conditions.
  • Strong programming and data-analysis skills using Python and one or more of Perl, JMP, SQL, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong technical foundation in digital design, circuit analysis, computer architecture, critical-path analysis, process technology, and transistor/device physics.
  • Working knowledge of the system stack including firmware, BIOS, drivers, operating-system behavior, and software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive ambiguous technical issues to root-cause closure across globally distributed, multi-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate complex technical issues into decision-ready options for executive leadership.
